Schwarz Insurance

  • 1923 - Incorporated in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Owner Ray Schwarz.
  • 1955 - Don Schwarz joins the agency with his father Ray.  Don was an active owner and member of the agency until his death in 2007.
  • 1958 - Bob Schwarz joins the agency with his father Ray and brother Don until his retirement in 1993.
  • 1970 - Schwarz Insurance moves to its current home office in Prairie du Sac along the beautiful Wisconsin River.
  • 1980 - Brian Schwarz joins the agency.  Brian currently lives with his family in the house that Ray Schwarz started Schwarz Insurance in.
  • 1982 - Schwarz purchases former Osborne-Marquardt Agency in Baraboo, Wis.
  • 1986 - Schwarz purchases former Bettiger-Neider agency in Spring Green, Wis.
  • 1987 - Kathy Schwarz joins the agency.
  • 1989 - Schwarz purchases Daehling Agency in Lodi, Wis.
  • 1991 - Tom Schwarz joins the agency.
  • 1994 - Schwarz purchases former M&I Agency condensing their four locations into one location in Marshfield, Wis.
  • 1998 - Schwarz purchases former Nelson & Beggs Agency in Richland Center, Wis.
  • 2000 - Schwarz purchases former Thompson-Rhode Agency in Madison, Wis.
  • 2010 - Schwarz purchases Ridgeview Insurance Agency in Marshall, Wis. specializing in Fire Departments, EMS and Public Entities.
  • 2010 - The Madison office moves from Fourier drive to 6609 University Ave. in Middleton, Wis.
  • 2011 - Schwarz purchases McIlwee-Halverson Agency in Madison, Wis. and combines it with the Schwarz Middleton location.
  • 2011 - The Baraboo office moves from Oak Street to 401 Broadway in downtown Baraboo, Wis.
  • 2011 - Ground is broken on new corporate headquarters in Prairie du Sac, Wis.

Since 1923 Schwarz has grown from four employee's in 1970 to over 75 employee's in eight locations with over 800 years combined experience in the insurance industry.
